zkApes’ Tokenomics and DAO Airdrop

zkApes is a metaverse project that has been built on the zkSync Era mainnet, and we call it Apeverse. The goal of Apeverse is to unite people from all over the globe in order to facilitate entertainment, education, interaction, and expression. Apeverse is currently in the process of developing an entire metaverse ecosystem that revolves around Apes NFTs (dNFTs), which can be exchanged through an AMM. Additionally, users can enjoy gaming experiences and earn money within Apeverse.

Why Launch zkApes Token?

After 1.5 years of development and nearly 2 months running on the zkSync Era mainnet, we have successfully launched zkApes NFTs, ApeX – the first NFTs DEX on zkSync, and ApeScan – the first NFTs browser on zkSync. Additionally, we are excited to be launching NFTFi of zkApes soon. Most importantly, we are thrilled to announce the launch of DAO governance of Apeverse, which is a significant step forward in its development. The future of Apeverse belongs to the DAO community, and the zkApes token plays a critical role in enabling community-driven DAO governance.

Apeverse is developing in several directions, but we cannot sacrifice upgradeability while attempting to remove central points of control. So, who controls upgradeability? The answer is zkApes DAO, and the zkApes token is crucial for distributing this power to the community. This is why a token is necessary for the safe and secure development of Apeverse.

zkApes Token Allocation

We have discussed the importance of governance and community involvement in the development of Apeverse. Equally important is how we distribute the responsibility of governance to the community. The zkApes token is primarily community-owned, with 70% of the tokens being distributed in the upcoming zkApes Airdrop based on data taken from several snapshots.

The zkApes token is an ERC-20 governance token that is native to the zkSync Era mainnet. When the token is launched, it will have the following properties:

Token Ticker: ZAT

Max Supply: 100,000,000,000,000 (100,000 billion), no additional issuance

Allocation: 70% for airdrop, 10% for project development(Locked 1 year), 10% for investors(Locked 1 year), 5% for DAO governance, 5% for marketing.

While the user and DAO airdrops will be available on May 10th, all investor and team tokens will be subject to a one-year lockup period, with the first unlocks happening one year after the token generation event, followed by monthly unlocks for the remaining year.

$ZAT is primarily community-owned, with 70% of the tokens being distributed in the zkApes Airdrop on May 10th. A points system has been implemented to determine the number of $ZAT that airdrop recipients can claim. Users will earn at least one point for each qualifying action performed before the snapshot date, with point scores being capped at 15.
